The Aston Martin F1 Team has acknowledged it is facing “extremely serious” technical problems, raising fresh uncertainty about its prospects for the season-opening race at the Australian Grand Prix.

After a series of setbacks during pre-season testing, team officials conceded that performance and reliability concerns have proven more significant than initially expected. Multiple mechanical issues reportedly disrupted long-run simulations and compromised key data collection sessions, leaving engineers scrambling for solutions.

Engine partner Honda confirmed it is working around the clock to address the faults and ensure the power unit package can be competitive for the first round of the championship, scheduled for Sunday, March 8.

“We are pushing flat out,” a Honda representative said, emphasizing that both factory staff and trackside crews are focused on delivering urgent updates before the cars hit the grid in Melbourne.

The Australian Grand Prix traditionally marks the beginning of the Formula 1 season and serves as an early benchmark for the competitive order. Any lingering technical weaknesses could have significant implications not only for race performance but also for the team’s momentum heading into the early part of the calendar.

While Aston Martin insists it remains confident in its long-term development plan, the compressed timeline and the scale of the issues have fueled speculation within the paddock about whether the team can fully resolve its difficulties before lights out in Australia.
