The arrest of Felipe de Jesús “N” took place in Chiapas.

Felipe de Jesús “N”, identified as the alleged main engineer of the Interoceanic Train, which suffered an accident in Oaxaca at the end of the year, leaving 14 dead, was arrested. However, documents reviewed by Infobae Mexico contradict the claim that he was a train engineer.

Through the National Registry of Detentions (RND), it can be seen that the man in question was captured on January 26 in Chiapas.

Journalistic reports, such as the one from El Universal, identify the now-detained man as the main person in charge of the machinery, as detailed by journalist Alberto López Morales.

Felipe de Jesús's arrest took place in the Pakalna neighborhood of Palenque, half a block from a church.

Those involved in the accident testified.

It is worth noting that journalistic records from December 30, 2025, indicate that at least three people related to the operation of the vehicle were summoned to testify.

On that occasion, the individuals were identified as:

Felipe de Jesús, driver

Emilio, identified as a train engineer

Jesús, a brakeman

That is, the names and positions do not match what was recently reported. In that case, the person captured on January 26 would be either the driver or the brakeman.

A document from the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), dated October 31, shows that the recently detained individual held the position of brakeman.

FGR points to speeding as the cause of the accident.

The role of the recently captured person is relevant because on January 27, the head of the Attorney General's Office (FGR), Ernestina Godoy Ramos, reported that the investigations into the case indicate that the accident was the result of speeding.

Godoy emphasized that the evidence indicates that tEl accidente ocurrió en Nizanda

The train "reached a speed of 65 kilometers per hour on the curve where the accident occurred, when the maximum speed allowed at this point was 50 kilometers per hour, meaning it was traveling 15 kilometers per hour above the permitted limit," the head of the FGR (Attorney General's Office) stated.

Similarly, Godoy presented a reconstruction of the accident after collecting the data from the so-called black box and added that the train was functioning properly, according to the inspections carried out.

On December 31, the FGR confirmed that the bodies of the victims had been handed over to their families. They were identified as:
