On the afternoon of this Wednesday, January 28, the population of Culiacán, Sinaloa suffered an armed attack directed at deputies Sergio Torres Félix and Elizabeth Montoya of the Movimiento political party in Culiacán, Sinaloa.


According to local media reports, the authorities deployed an operation in the area of ​​the Old Malecón, at the height of Domingo Rubí Street.

This event occurs in an entity in which even the governor considers attacks to be “normal.” This is supported by figures and recent cases, such as the one that occurred in La Lima.


Last Tuesday, January 27, the alert to the authorities was generated shortly before 6:00 p.m., when citizens reported an attack with a firearm in a mechanical workshop with the company name Car Tec Automotriz, as reported by Debate.

The first reports indicated that two men had been attacked by gunshots inside the establishment, which mobilized the security and emergency forces, so elements of the National Guard and the Red Cross responded to the emergency.


After moving to the workshop located on Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez Avenue and Estrella Street, in the La Lima sector, they were guided to the place where the victims were and proceeded to provide them with help.


After checking the vital signs, they confirmed that one of the men was no longer alive, due to having received multiple gunshot wounds. The victims of the shooting attack inside the mechanical workshop were identified by their relatives and according to information confirmed by the same source, the man who lost his life responded to the name of Javier N, 59 years old, while the injured person was identified as Gregorio N, 54 years old.

So far, authorities have not reported whether the victims were employees of the business or customers who were there at the time of the attack.

Rocha Moya considers armed attacks “common”

The governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, described armed attacks against police corporations as “common,” after the attack recorded on the morning of Tuesday, January 27, during a chase in Culiacán.


Elements of the Municipal Police and the municipal Public Security Secretary, Alejandro Bravo Martínez, participated in the incident.


Rocha Moya explained that the attack occurred within the framework of an operation that culminated in the arrest of four alleged criminals, who responded with shots.


According to the president, the official truck of the Secretary of Public Security was the most affected, although the vehicle's armor prevented the projectiles from causing injuries. Bravo Martínez was unharmed and remains in good health.


The governor explained that the events originated when an armed group allegedly followed municipal police officers who had already finished their shift and were heading to their homes, which triggered the confrontation near the police complex.
