**“Trump Bans Federal Use of Anthropic AI: A Major Shakeup in Government Tech”**

Trump Orders Federal Agencies to Phase Out Anthropic Technology

Former Donald Trump has directed all U.S. federal agencies to gradually eliminate the use of technology developed by Anthropic, citing concerns over security and oversight.

In a memorandum released this week, Trump emphasized that federal agencies must ensure artificial intelligence systems meet “strict standards for safety, accountability, and transparency” and warned that reliance on private AI companies without sufficient oversight could pose risks to national security.

The directive requires agencies to review existing contracts with Anthropic and develop plans to transition to alternative AI solutions or in-house systems. Federal officials are expected to submit implementation timelines over the coming months.

Anthropic, known for its AI language models and alignment-focused research, has yet to respond publicly to the announcement. Analysts suggest the move could signal a broader debate in Washington over how the government engages with emerging AI technologies, particularly those developed by private firms.

Critics of the order argue it may slow innovation and limit access to advanced AI tools for public sector applications, while supporters contend it is a necessary precaution to ensure sensitive government data and decision-making processes remain secure.

The decision follows a series of recent actions by Trump and his allies aimed at reshaping federal AI policy, including heightened scrutiny of other AI vendors and calls for stricter regulatory frameworks.
