‘El Mencho’ Genetically Identified: FGR Opens 57 Investigations Across 14 States Following Wave of Violence

Mexico’s Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) has confirmed that Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho,” was genetically identified following the high-profile operation that led to his death.
Authorities reported that the FGR has opened 57 separate investigation files related to the violent events and asset seizures linked to the operation, spanning Jalisco and 13 additional states. The investigations focus on crimes ranging from armed confrontations to organized attacks orchestrated in the immediate aftermath of the raid.
The confirmation of El Mencho’s identity marks a critical milestone in Mexico’s efforts to document and prosecute crimes associated with the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación, one of the nation’s most powerful and violent criminal networks. Federal authorities continue to monitor potential retaliatory actions and power struggles emerging across the cartel’s territory.
Officials emphasize that the investigations aim not only to bring perpetrators to justice but also to prevent further destabilization in affected regions, ensuring that law enforcement maintains control and public safety in areas previously under cartel influence.
