La actualización de Gemini en Chrome incorporó nuevas funciones de inteligencia artificial para mejorar la experiencia de navegación multitarea.

The most ambitious update in the browser's history transforms it into an autonomous assistant. From managing tax procedures to organizing trips and redesigning images, AI now takes the lead.

Chrome goes "agent": Google integrates Gemini 3 to automate tasks and browse without tabs.

Google today announced a paradigm shift in web browsing. The latest Chrome update isn't just a cosmetic improvement; it's the deep integration of Gemini 3, the company's smartest and most capable artificial intelligence model to date.

This evolution transforms the browser into an "agent" tool, capable of performing complex actions on behalf of the user, marking a turning point for macOS, Windows, and Chromebook Plus.

The end of tab switching: the new multitasking experience. The company has introduced a completely redesigned sidebar that acts as a permanent navigation assistant. The premise is simple: eliminate the friction of switching between tabs. “We’re launching a new experience so that Gemini users in Chrome always have an assistant by their side, no matter which tab they’re on,” Google announced.

This panel not only answers questions but also provides context for browsing. The company’s testers are already using it to compare options across dozens of open tabs, summarize lengthy product reviews on various websites, and find free slots in extremely busy schedules—all while the main work tab remains untouched.

Creativity without downloads: Smart Image Insertion

In the creative realm, the update stands out for the addition of Smart Image Insertion, powered by the Nano Banana model. This feature allows users to transform and generate visual content in real time directly within the browser window.

Unlike traditional tools, users don’t need to download, edit, and re-upload an image. By simply typing a command in the side panel, it’s possible to redesign interior spaces, transform sketches, or instantly convert research data into high-quality infographics. Full Integration with Connected Apps

Synergy with the Google ecosystem reaches a new level of depth. Through Connected Apps, Gemini in Chrome accesses and works with Gmail, Calendar, YouTube, Maps, Google Shopping, and Google Flights.

One practical use case is logistics planning: AI can track down an old email with conference details, check available flights in Google Flights, verify the schedule in Calendar, and automatically draft an email to colleagues informing them of the exact arrival time.

Auto Browse 2: The Leap into Task Delegation

The most disruptive new feature is undoubtedly Chrome Auto Browse 2. This function transcends traditional autofill to offer an agentic experience. Initially available to AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the United States, it allows users to delegate tasks that normally consume hours of manual browsing.

Personal Logistics: Researching hotel and flight costs by combining multiple dates to optimize your budget.

Professional management and paperwork: schedule appointments, complete online forms, gather tax documents, request quotes from service providers, and manage driver's license renewals.

Smart shopping: thanks to Gemini 3's multimodal capabilities, the system can identify items within an inspiration photo (such as furniture or clothing), search for them in stores, apply discount codes, and add them to the shopping cart.

Access management: with user permission, the tool can use Google Password Manager to navigate and complete tasks even on sites that require login.

A new global standard: Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP)

To ensure this automation is seamless and secure across the web, Google has introduced the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP). This open standard for automated commerce was developed in collaboration with industry leaders such as Shopify, Etsy, Wayfair, Target, and Walmart, and is supported by Visa and Mastercard.

The goal is for AI agents to act on behalf of the user in a standardized and error-free manner on any shopping platform.

Security and the “Alignment Criterion”

AI autonomy comes with rigorous controls. Google has implemented the “user alignment critic model,” a system that monitors AI actions to ensure they remain aligned with the user’s true intent.

In highly sensitive situations—such as making a final payment, managing a purchase, or posting content on social media—auto-browsing is designed to pause and request explicit confirmation. “We’ve built Gemini into Chrome with safeguards to protect you from new types of online threats,” the company emphasized, stressing that the user always retains ultimate control.
